I love the idea because it looks really cool on top of the picture. The problem with putting it on top of an image is that anime fans are actively hostile to altering an image in any other way than applying translations to it. Ad blocking is high on anime websites. Users will just go to the next clone manga reader if you put anything in the way of the content they seek. They are reading manga online because a lot of manga reading users are young and have no disposable income and they are trained to not purchase any anime/manga material because it is too easily available. A lot of the manga they read is not available translated because the manga industry has collapsed with a lot of the publishers discontinuing selling manga.

I love your idea though and you should consider making a more general purpose version as normal people are more accepting of this kind of advertising because youtube does a similar thing.
