Easy to miss private messages #454

What's the problem you want solved?

Right now it's really easy for me to miss that I've received a private message, since they only show up in the Private view and I don't check that one that often since I don't get that many PMs.

Is there a solution you'd like to recommend?

This would be nice https://github.com/fraction/oasis/issues/167 but I think in the meantime, making private mentions of me appear in the Mentions view would help a lot, since people usually (but not always) mention you when they PM you.

I think that, as a policy, we should avoid putting private messages anywhere near public messages. (In the beginning, your suggestion is exactly what Oasis did, but we changed the behavior because it was confusing and potentially error-prone.)

I do agree that private messages are hard to notice -- maybe a notification bubble type thing would be good? Like "Inbox (4)"?
