don't remove decimal from floats #20

fixes issue #19 , but not well tested otherwise.. also, when I installed it looks like some autogenerated files were changed? should I be tracking those?

I don't know why these later commits are mixed up with this pull request.. maybe I need to split into a second branch. The 'in progress commit...' and the 'remove autogenerated...' commit should not be part of this pull request
