Your readme mentions the Linux install path is ~/.local/share/data/QtProject/qtcreator/plugin/<version>.

It's plugins, not plugin.
.local/share/ existed, data/QtProject/qtcreator did not exist. I had to create it and a plugins subfolder, but it worked.
.config/QtProject/qtcreator/ existed, but creating a plugins subfolder did not work.
