NPP stops foreground work during autosave and display is "busy" #25

I have around 50 files open, with the tab bar hidden (not enough screen space) and use the Document List panel as a vertical tab bar instead. The display seems to go very busy for a couple of seconds during the auto-save as if some form of macro running rapid keystrokes refreshing the screen is going on. The main issue is that I'm unable to enter any text while it does this. Can the autosave run in the background without interrupting foreground tasks?
