First of all, Is there anyway to debug this ?

I used to have the original fork of pixel-saver, and was working fine until I updated today. Then some applications (e.g. nautilus) stopped responding to this extension.

I wanted to switch to this fork anyway for some time, since the original one is dead.

So I did switch to this fork, but no luck, same behavior for nautilus, possibly other apps too. I haven't tested much since it's working fine for the most important ones (chrome and intellij )

Same issue here. I've updated Gnome to 3.28.2 and this plugin, as well as original pixel saver, doesn't work for i.e: xfce4-terminal, gnome-terminal, nautilus. Firefox works, Visual Studio Code works. Also Synergy mouse/keyboard sync software stopped working, unless I have Firefox maximized to fullscreen (?) -- strange.

edit: OK, it seems that the above issues are active only when I use gdm to start up Gnome. When I'm using lightdm to start Gnome, everything works perfectly!
