Grey line over video

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use xv Video Overlay as video output
2. Open any video

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
A grey line runs along the middle of the video.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
gnome-mplayer 0.9.8
Linux

Please provide any additional information below.
If I use the standard xv Textured Video, the line appears and flickers
before finally disappearing. Possibly related to issue 297

Also, if you are using gtk 2.18, make sure you are using at least gtk 2.18.4
