attempting to do:

switch from .jsx to .tsx and the tileClassName={tileClassName} started returning "no overload matches this call error"
- reverted back from .jtx to .tsx to be quicker and am now slowed down again.

proposed approach: undo .tsx && undo redux for a moment and rewire them back together.

mapDispatchToProps was the problem
