current gadgets.MiniMessage api on production exhibitting off behavior

What steps will reproduce the problem?
======================================
1.Add a gadget that uses the mini-message 
(http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/ui.html#Mini)

What is the expected output?
============================

A html minimessage with a links preserved will appear with a dismisible [x]

What is the actual output?
==========================
1. any links (href tags) in the mini message are stripped
2. the [x] does not dismiss the message
