The conversion factor, Customer Ref Code, Etc could be different for variants. For variants created, it carries forward same values as is there in the master variant. But being able to add a variant to existing items could make things better.

Currently, are these values copied into variant item code as well?

In future new variants may arise for same product. It would increase a lot of work to scrap existing item codes and creating new item codes, although new item codes may not be required at all times.

If an Item already has stock, how to manage it's stock when it's a variant? As per the design, a template item doesn't have a stock of itself.

Also where initially all item codes were created, with-out use of variants and later use of variants is required.

Please elaborate with an example.

Under existing scenario, one item can be assigned with only one attribute value. Eg- Colour - we can add only one colour. But for may attributes it's quite possible to attach multiple values of same attribute as it may fit in multiple categories.

This is possible even now.

Hi,

I am not sure, But currently there is no provision for having different customer ref code for each variant.

If an Item already has stock, how to manage its stock when it's a variant? As per the design, a template item doesn't have a stock of itself.

By adding a variant, i mean describing new feature of same product for categorization, which was not used earlier. Eg: - A person is selling 500 different T-shirts. Earlier they were categorized as follows.

So along with #10684, if customer is placing RFQ, he should be able to identify product, so being able to add variants later, will make it easier for search, for those who are not aware of item code convention.

This is possible even now.

Currently it's possible to have different attributes. Eg - Colour, Brand for T-shirts. But I am not sure if its possible to have multiple attribute value. Eg - Dual colour T-shirts. i.e a T-shirt with red and grey colour both.
