Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. We can not change CoA at any time and bring the account data with us without creating a new company with the new chart. Even having two or more different CoA's at the same time is not possible.

Describe the solution you'd like We want to be able to...

  1. change CoA at any time and bring the account data with us into the new CoA by account mapping between the two CoA's.
  2. have more than one active CoA at the same time with account mapping.

Describe alternatives you've considered No practical as far as we can see.

hi @nissekalle0 why do you feel the need to change the CoA or have multiple CoA. Would it not violate many reporting standards?

nissekalle0 commented 2 years ago

Hi sharmanakul, The reason is that for example some CoA change from year to year f.i. Bas2021 is not exactly the same as Bas2020. Small modifications between years. A CoA is fluid materia and is developed from year to year. The reason of multiple CoA is that if you are having a cooperation between several countries with different accounting standards with different legal frameworks. The holding company might follow IFRS and the local companies follow the local standard and the IFRS at the same time. In this way it makes it far easier to handle the accounting. No it does not violate the accounting standards or legal jurisdictions as long as it is not switched in the middle of an accounting year. That should not be allowed. But switching in the start of the new year is no violation!

This issue has been automatically marked as inactive because it has not had recent activity and it wasn't validated by maintainer team. It will be closed within a week if no further activity occurs.

This is a very important issue. It must be possible to change a CoA at any time of the year but preferentially between accounting years.

When the CoA is changed there must be an automatic mapping between old and new accounts and for the accounts missing in the new CoA it must be able to do it manually with a doubly linked list. It shouldn't be too much of work to make it happen. A CoA is defined for the company and a period of a year. When working with the accounts the system needs to track what CoA is used for that period f.i. if the user wants a printout for period A before the current date where another CoA has been added, he needs to be able to use which one of the current and the previous CoA he wants to use for the period. If the printout period is spanning more periods then the latest CoA shall be used automatically.

All the issues with CoA totally blocks, without fiddling with all kinds of things to get it work, the software to be used in the Nordic region.
