Need Picklist function in reserve qty against sales order case #41994

Open smbcatalyst opened 2 months ago

smbcatalyst commented 2 months ago

Currently, if we reserve Qty against SO, the system is not allowing to create picklist. It should allow to create picklist and on the basis of picking logic it should give batch i.e. stock details on picklist. It is very difficult now to pick the Qty as picklist function is not available. Can we consider the new functionality to ease the picking process?

@smbcatalyst you can reserve the stock against the pick list instead of a sales order.

Currently, once we reserve the Qty on Sales order, the system will not allow to create Pick List and the system goes directly to Delivery Note. The system should allow to create Pick list when we reserve stock on sales order.

  1. If we are not allow to create pick list, how the team will pick material?
  2. If we create pick list, then it will difficult to get correct details on sales order as Sales order team and Pick list team (warehouse team) both are different and work on different time period.

Hi,

We request to reopen the ticket and reason is as follows:

Currently, once we reserve the Qty on Sales order, the system will not allow us to create a Pick List and the system goes directly to Delivery Note. The system should allow us to create a Pick list when we reserve stock on sales order.

  1. If we are not allowed to create a pick list, how will the team pick material?
  2. If we create a pick list, then it will be difficult to get correct details on sales order as the Sales order team and Pick list team (warehouse team) both are different and work on different time periods.

@smbcatalyst

Stock Reservation and Pick List are doing similar work. Stock Reservation blocks the stock from being used elsewhere, whereas the Pick List allows it.

Why do you want to create both? In case you want the stock to be reserved as per the pick list selection then you should reserve stock against the same instead of reserving it from a sales order.

Hi,

For most of the companies, the Order management team and warehouse management teams are different. If we don't reserve stock on sales order and wait for the warehouse team to reserve the same which leads to hold order management till the warehouse team reserves the stock. As without reservation the system will show wrong stock available to order management team.

Also, as mentioned in earlier mail, if we reserve stock on sales order, the system is not allowed to create a pick list and this will not help the warehouse team to pick the stock from location.

@smbcatalyst

Correct me if I am wrong.

You want the behaviour where one (order management team) can reserve the stock (based on qty only) against the Sales Order to ensure the availability and the other (warehouse management team) will create a pick list to exactly pick the serial and batch details.

For a workaround (for now) you can reserve the qty against the sales order. The warehouse management team will unreserve the same and create a pick list with serial and batch details.

  • Disable Auto Reserve Serial and Batch from Stock Settings (Stock Reservation tab).
  • Add a server script to unreserve the stock reserved against the sales order (if any) on submit of the pick list.
