We’ll be representing FIRST and FRC 4931 at this weekend’s 2014 Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo in Chesterfield. It looks like it will be great weather, lots of really great exhibits, lots of aircraft, and an estimated 50-75K people! See http://spirit-airshow.com for general information.
We will be exhibiting from 9AM to 5PM on Sunday and will be appearing with other FRC teams. We have 3 main goals:
Inform people of all ages about FIRST and FRC, and let them experience robotics first hand.
Interest high school students in joining FRC, and in our team for those from the larger Edwardsville area
Raise awareness about our team and our fundraising needs
We’re requested to set up from 8AM-9AM, which means we probably need to leave Edwardsville no later than 7AM.
We’ll demonstrate the competition robot on (part of) an Aerial Assist field under a large 30’x60’ tent. But we can set up our pit area behind it. (I’m not sure whether the pit will be accessible by visitors.) This is our list of things to take:
The competition robot with classmates, and tools/parts (in case repairs are needed)
The small robot
Robot cart, a tall dolly, and the flat dolly
All batteries with the battery cart, sporting the working voltmeters
The 10’x10’ tent to keep us mostly out of the sun, with rope to tie down the tent (this is an airport, so everything will likely have to be tied down)
The PVC banner structure with sand buckets
The large banner
The white table
A long heavy-duty extension cord and power strip
25’ network cable, in case we have wireless communication problems
Safety equipment (fire extinguisher, First Aid, etc.)
A new package of zip ties; the old pack is missing after last week
Flyers
Some tarps, in case it rains and we need to wrap up the tent and/or all of our stuff.
