ati mobilty performance issues (5870 xfire cal++) #322

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
note: im unsure of what to write here sorry.
1. i get no performance issues from running 1 ati card (5870 mobilty)
2. i get performance issues from running Xfire. (load shares not doubles)
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Not getting the full potential of my cards.

Wilst running Pyrit im get a total of 40,000 kps.
i expect double that easily.
when i run 1 ati 5870 mobilty card (xfire off) i get 41,000 kp/s)
when i run in Xfire mode i get 41,000 kp/s still. but the cards share the load
instead of doubling it.
NOTE: when pausing the script and after i resume i see the kp/s start at 97,000
and slowly decline to 30,000-41,000 kp/s. where it idles there. (also both
gpu's are running at 50% load or less)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

iv tried 4.0
but i have a little better results with pyrit-0.3.0
so iv stuck to that.
im using ubuntu

Please provide any additional information below.

-im using an alienware m17x-r2 model.
-im using ubuntu 10.10
-gpu core max: 700 (no OC) -both cards
-gpu ram max: 1000 (no OC) -both cards
-gpu core min: 100 -both cards
-gpu ram min: 150 -both cards
-intel 17 quad core (8 threads) -note issues with this in ubuntu, turbo thread
wont work
-screen resoultion 1920-1200 (16:10)
-no extra moniter's being used
-8g ram
-16g swap

(outher notes: ati drivers dont seem to support mobilty to well. i cant seem to
be able to get my gpu temperature what ever i do! also, i am not able to
overclock a mobilty card currently)

edit: this is my results with Xfire enabled.

Pyrit list cores:

The following cores seem available...
#1:  'CAL++ Device #1 'ATI JUNIPER''
#2:  'CAL++ Device #2 'ATI JUNIPER''
#3:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#4:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#5:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#6:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#7:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'
#8:  'CPU-Core (SSE2)'

pyrit benchmark:

Computed 39155.11 PMKs/s total.
#1: 'CAL++ Device #1 'ATI JUNIPER'': 19660.9 PMKs/s (RTT 1.5)
#2: 'CAL++ Device #2 'ATI JUNIPER'': 20166.6 PMKs/s (RTT 1.5)
#3: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 309.9 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
#4: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 323.4 PMKs/s (RTT 2.9)
#5: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 311.6 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
#6: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 302.9 PMKs/s (RTT 3.1)
#7: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 291.7 PMKs/s (RTT 2.9)
#8: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 288.8 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
(varies every benchmark 30-41k)

with Xfire disabled the only difference is i have 1 less adapter (cal++ device)
my kps are the same, but the one device does over 30,000 kps alone easy

id suspect an output to look like this (this is not the actuall output)

Computed 39155.11 PMKs/s total.
#1: 'CAL++ Device #1 'ATI JUNIPER'': 39960.9 PMKs/s (RTT 1.5)
#2: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 309.9 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
#3: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 323.4 PMKs/s (RTT 2.9)
#4: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 311.6 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
#5: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 302.9 PMKs/s (RTT 3.1)
#6: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 291.7 PMKs/s (RTT 2.9)
#7: 'CPU-Core (SSE2)': 288.8 PMKs/s (RTT 3.0)
