reply doesn't always see the last recipient #87

From my pidgin chat log:

(12:26:26 PM) phone: SMS from Loraine:... sms content ...
(12:27:28 PM) Mark Hammond: ?
(12:27:30 PM) phone: Available commands:
... snip help output ...
(12:28:22 PM) Mark Hammond: reply:... sms content ...
(12:28:22 PM) phone: Reply contact is not set.

I'm not sure if the '?' cleared the recipient or something else is going on - 
I'll try and repro later, but entering this bug while I think of it.
