@flooie, can you please put this on your list? We just need to add these to the Position model and create a no-op migration for it. (You can see my previous attempts at this if you look in the git blame for the models.py file.).
I'm teaching at Hawaii Law School this summer, and my title I kid you not is Casual Hire. So... @mlissner do I get to add that one?
Only if it requires a suit.
😞
@purselane @mlissner I feel like we should discuss some of these.
Lecturer is sometimes used instead of Adjunct at the same role. Instructor isn't necessarily a professor, but they all kinda fall under faculty. Part time, full, Casual (as ive learned).
I'm not sure Partner and Associate are really worth adding, those seem just like they should be Attorney/Practitioner.
Assistant Public Defender is new to me and I think worth adding. Legal Assistant as well.
Court attorney? is that the Clerk of the Court?
And this senior/prinicipal law clerk thing seems weird to me.
Surrogate
Public Defender (Already in the system)
Assistant Public Defender
Court Officer
Member
Law/Legal Assistant
Senior/Principal Law Clerk (Clerk)
Instructor (Professor)
Faculty ("").
Partner (Practitioner)
Associate ("")
Court Attorney ("")
*Interim Judge (Acting Judge)
Thanks Bill. My thoughts...
Surrogate Assistant Public Defender Court Officer Member Law/Legal Assistant Senior/Principal Law Clerk - I agree. Let's bucket these under "Clerk" Instructor (Professor) - Agree Faculty (Professor) - Agree Interim Judge (Acting Judge) - Agree
I think it's worth separating these out and adding them as new titles. Lawyers care, and it's usually a big deal to be an associate vs a partner:
Can I get the context about court attorney and court officer? @purselane
@flooie Apologies for the late response; I completely missed these comments.
Court attorneys seem to be assigned to specific judges in some entries I've seen, other times it just says, "Court Attorney," and the court they've been assigned to. I think it's worth adding.
Court oficer-- I assume it's a catch all they use for more minor court roles like usher, bailiff, and stenographer. Usually that experience proceeds experience listed as an attorney.
Previously discussed:
Additionally:
These are probably still good positions to add, but if we don't know which judges need them b/c @purselane has moved on, I don't think this is a priority. I'm going to take this off my list unless Heliya chimes in with some details she's got stashed away.
The following positions have come up frequently so it would be nice to have them added to the drop down. Starred bullets are terms that we have synonyms for (e.g., instructor and faculty could be equivocated with professor, etc.), so I'll leave it up to @mlissner to determine whether the nuances important enough to warrant additions (I'm also happy to discuss).
