Thanks so much @ariddell This is exactly the sort of report that is helpful to us but that we so rarely get! We'll work on filling these gaps as soon as possible.
@ariddell, we saw most of this too, actually, and our quick review of the missing items showed that of a few that we checked manually, they weren't in Google Scholar or @carlmalamud's Public.Resource.Org collection. So something seems strange about these that'll need to get sorted out.
Since we had our own log of missing cases, I compared the two:
Unique to your list:
Unique to our list:
We should get these (and those above) entered. @brianwc do you have ideas for how to gather these?
Great. Thanks!
The missing cases I mentioned were those relevant to a particular (large) subset of the SCDB -- so there could be many more missing. This was the subset, in the event you want to check this:
SCDB_TERM_BEGIN = 1950
SCDB_TERM_END = 2008
SCDB_DECISION_TYPES = {1, 2, 5, 6, 7}
# 1: opinion of the court (orally argued)
# 2: per curiam (no oral argument)
# 5: equally divided vote
# 6: per curiam (orally argued)
# 7: judgment of the Court (orally argued)
These are likely available from Harvard's Caselaw Access Project, given that I found the two missing ones from 346 U.S. there:
https://cite.case.law/us/346/929/6951187/ https://cite.case.law/us/346/929/6951202/
@dmvj Thanks Doug - this is a great find.
We hope to ingest a tremendous number of opinions in the near future, but just so we don't lose track of these two, I'm adding the two commands we can run to find and add these two opinions.
Gather:
manage.py scrape_harvard_ia --reporter us --volume 346
Ingest:
manage.py harvard_opinions --reporter us --volume 346
It dawns on me now that - in these case we might want to add page number to the scraper and the importer for one-offs like this.
Since a good many of the missing cases were ones found on pages with multiple cases/page (meaning the VolumeNumber/PageNumber link would land you on a disambiguation page, I gathered the links for all the cases up to 1998. The Supreme Court has U.S. Reports volumes going back to 1991 on its website, so the post-1991 missing cases shouldn't be too hard to find.

@flooie I guess we should put this on a backlog so we can close it down. Looks like it's almost done anyway.
This is not an exhaustive list but I hope it's useful. These are decisions for which there is a US Reporter citation in the Supreme Court Database (SCDB) and no matching record in CourtListener.
