GhostText as a Chrome alternative to It's All Text for Firefox #25

Closed fregante closed 8 years ago

Apparently there's a popular Firefox add-on called It's All Text that seems to do the same thing GhostText does, but it's been inactive for a year. Actually there a few more alternatives on SO:

We have have a look at It's All Text's issues to see what problems we can expect to run into

Cacodaimon commented 10 years ago

Many of the issues are based on how It's all Text works - file related like naming… . Other are editor specific related like: "Does not work with my strange editor nobody hear ever about it…"

But we could try to grab a part of the user base from It's all Text if it is inactive.

Yeah, definitely people are interested in software like GhostText. Most of the Chrome alternatives are dead too

We should add an announcements here, too: http://www.sublimetext.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

We got a new Star, the user seems to come from the ST Forum.

I added GhostText to that SuperUser question

Cacodaimon commented 10 years ago

I upvoted it...

Maybe we could add it here, too: http://www.chromeexperiments.com/submit/

It's unlikely that they will consider it, GhostText is not a website, it's kinda geeky and it's not "visible." I think they want something more flashy

I think more than doing nothing they cant do:

We post HTML5 and JavaScript projects that use the latest web technologies in a creative way. Examples include physics demos, particle renderers, audio / video experiments, digital art, games, code editors, and data visualizations. In short: anything beautiful and technically engaging made by creative coders for the web.

We might not fit this point but as I said moer than dropping our request the cant do:
