Hardware inventory management system

We wish to set up a system to track our current inventory of hardware. The system should include a convenient interface for keeping the inventory up to date when we make changes. It should also support some sort of physical labeling of the components.

Current reccomendations inlude InvenTree which seems to fit these requirements. It also includes an API to build upon and custom community plugins for integration with other systems.

Would be nice, previous friByte members used some sort of self developed thing i think, but we never used it much.

Could also consider the completely boring approach -> Markdown files with tables in the wiki with links to other documents if we write anything about the specific item.

I did hear rumors of an in-house system but have never seen or tested it myself.

I agree with the possibility of writing documents by hand as this system is a tad bit overcomplicated for our case in terms of ease of use. This would allow us to easily generate labels for quick lookup however. But labeling is also something that can be done with a pen and paper. Anything that helps us document our hardware setup helps :)

The system is up for now and i will test it out when i am back for my first dugnad
