Ames has more advanced features than the first shell script, has an AUR package for easy installation, and works for every compositor. It's also explicitly designed for extracting content from media and inserting it into Anki.
There's no reason to take screenshots manually using a suite of different tools that may or may not work on every compositor, either. Ames makes sense to recommend as the only tool for Linux.
Thanks for the tip and you are probably right. As you can probably tell by the lack of updates the site is currently outdated. I plan on making a bigger update soon and I'll integrate your change then.
