Ignore thread doesn't work #8370

this “Ignore thread“ in the action menu doesn't work since several weeks. I have several threads which are set to “ignore“ and where i get notifications for new posts.

I think it started at the time, when we had this confusion with not working notifications about 4 or 5 weeks ago. For a test just set the "unignore"-state and then the "ignore"-state again. Maybe it's just a flipped bit in some settings as a result of the notification-issue.

I wish that would work again. I'm really afraid of giving a 'like' on good content at the moment because I cannot stop the expected avalanche of notifications. 😱 I promise to give all the good emoji reactions for the PR that fixes this issue. :-)

I can't reproduce this as well, I've muted dansup's birthday thread and I haven't received further notifications.

I just made a test and the ignore thread option worked. No notification for a new comment. Maybe it is fixed now for whatever reason.

Can someone with power please reopen this issue? It's not fixed.

I'm getting a lot of notifications for this thread* after I ignored the thread. I also tried to un-ignore it and then re-ignore it. Doesn't help. I get a notification for every new comment.

Hint: I have enabled the option 'Show detailed notifications' in settings > notification settings. Maybe that's important.

Edit: Switched off 'detailed notifications', un-ignored thread, re-ignored thread, still getting notifications.

I can confirm, ignoring a public contact didn't immediately prevent notifications for their replies on my own posts.

I was wondering if it had to do with the worker daemon? It would explain that changes in the database wouldn't be immediately taken into account if the daemon is using a cached version of the contact.

Thanks for the reopening.

Switched off 'detailed notifications', still getting notifications.

The weird thing is it works most of the time. But for some threads it fails to mute the notifications. Question is what is different?
