I think some footprints incorrectly represent the size of the part, which could encourage users to put parts together in a way that would not work physically. For example, the ADXL 3-axis accelerometer footprint is only as wide as its header pins, and I think the silkscreen should be extended to show the whole size of the breakout pcb. I believe this is also true for the pressure sensor.

If I'm wrong about this, then just close the bug.

That's partly correct, and a number of parts have this problem. Partly, because one could argue that these parts do not have to be mounted directly on the board. Instead they could be connected through cable connectors and dangle offboard.

For the future auto-generated parts, however, I think we should use the full silkscreen size.

Yes, they could be attached off-board, but fixing the footprint wouldn't affect this option. So I think we should fix the current set of parts and not just the future ones.
