Sound in VirtualBox #51

Inside VirtualBox, I have set the emulated soundcard to Intel HDA, but I get no sound in Quake or Doom. Is this because the games are compiled without sound, or because or other issue that I am missing?

I haven't been following this project closely, but I believe Nobody reads these issues is false and misleading.

I also do not get sound on either Doom or Quake in Virtualbox 5.2.18 on Mac OS X. I have set the emulated sound card to Intel HDA. The default ICH AC97 does not work either.
