.NET Core 2 support?

Description

Keep getting 'file not part of the project' on a brand new .NET Core 2 project. For a classlib:

The file ’/Users/julien/Code/Examples/Demo/Demo.Core/Library.fs’ was not part of the project. Did you call InvalidateConfiguration when the list of files in the project changed?

For a XUnit test file:

Error: /Users/julien/Code/Examples/Demo/Demo.Tests/Tests.fs

Also saw this in the Messages buffer:

error in process filter: Wrong type argument: flycheck-error-p, [cl-struct-flycheck-error #<buffer  *Minibuf-1*> fsharp-fsautocomplete "/Users/julien/Code/Examples/Demo/Demo.Tests/Tests.fs" 4 6 "The namespace or module 'Xunit' is not defined." error nil]

I'm not really sure the issue is in fsharp-mode or fsautocomplete though.

Repro steps

Create a .NET Core 2 classlib.

Expected behavior

It should work as in .NET Core 1 projects.

Actual behavior

Known workarounds

Changing the type of the classlib project from netstandard2.0 to netcoreapp2.0 works.

I can reproduce this with latest fsautocomplete 0.33.

I suspect this is related to the use relative Compile item pathnames in sdk 2.0?

Ah, I see. Do you think that would be fixed by a release of the latest fsautocomplete, or it is an bug there that needs to be fixed? Is the format for sdk 2.0 different in that way then? I don't have any experience with these projects.

This upstream issue only affects projects using netstandard2.0 target framework (default for classlib). netcoreapp2.0 (default for console) works fine. Ionide also is affected by this issue.

The fsautocomplte branch FCS14 fixes the issue for me.

until then, intellisense for lib targeting netstandard2.0 doesnt work. all others (netcoreapp2.0, netstandard1.6, etc) will work, with .net core sdk 2.0 too

Hi @rneatherway ; do we have an estimate of timescales for this? I can see the FSAC pull request is closed, but I don't know what other work is still involved for emacs/vim/etc to be updated.

Now that the FSAC PR is in, I will do a release to be incorporated into the other editors. It is slightly backwards-incompatible so there will be a small amount of work for emacs and vim to start using it.

I have made a release of FSAC at https://github.com/fsharp/FsAutoComplete/releases/tag/0.34.0

I will make a branch for fsharp-mode with the new release as a first step to upgrading. I think there are just a few rough edges, but as it has been a few months I am not 100% sure. Hopefully the tests will point them out to me :-)
