Currently working on this - see words2num, based on the js package https://github.com/finnfiddle/words-to-numbers/

If anyone has a function that does this already in R then that would be good ? I am surprised there are not any that already do this TBH

This issue has been closed by the function words_to_numbers, although it is unclear if it is fast enough to be saleable, we'll see!
