mplayer unable to open codec #5

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Follow installation instructions for mplayer
2. Play h264 content
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected = video. Instead, mplayer throws up an error about LoadLibrary
being unable to load the codec (see attachment)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
svn of 5 days ago, on Fedora Core 4

Please provide any additional information below.

I am also seeing this issue. Trying with mplayer -v -v showed that it was indeed
looking in .mplayer/registry rather than .mplayer/registry32, so I renamed the
file.
It's now reading the correct keys from the registry but the error message
persists.

Mine has a different two lines to drdaz7's log, though:

Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: CoreAVCDecoder.ax
Warning: DS_Filter() could not open DirectShow DLL. (DLL=CoreAVCDecoder.ax,
r=0x0)

(don't know what r= is, but it's 0 on mine and a value in drdaz7's)

Please run with -msglevel win32=9
and send the output log (at least the last 100 or so lines)
Make sure to look through the log and xxx out your keys before sending them
though!

Log looks like your ProductID or Registry key is wrong. You should double
check that
they match what is in your WindowsXP install. There is no way to tell which
key is
wrong, just that they don't match.

Double-checked the windows machine and indeed I had typoed the CoreAVC key.

did you use '-demuxer lavf'?
This is the only way you can watch TS streams with CoreAVC
If you want help debugging this, I need:
a) the command line you are running
b) a sample uploaded somewhere (I recommend zshare.net) that I can test with.

If you are still having problems using 1.7.0 please let me know. I am not
planning
to continue support for older versions (not like I've been doing much anyway).
I
appologize for just blindly closing this, but I only have the bandwidth to
support
current releases of CoreAVC at this time.

A) it will be easier to debug using dshowserver. You don't need a video, as
the only
point is to get through initialization, and there won't be any of the mplayer
stuff to
get in the way.
B) I don't have access to a Mac. there are a few things which may be linux
specific
(threading code, stack manipulation stuff) which could cause it to crash. I'm
not
sure how I can debug this further.

I can't compile dshowserver on Leopard yet. It's complaining about the variable
CLOCK_REALTIME and an implicit
call of clock_gettime on line 166 of server.c (and a few warnings about types).
I'm still learning C but I'm going to
have a go and see if I can fix it.

I got my hands on a Tiger machine to play with. I have a fix for building
dshowserver on OS-X (I'll update the patch once it has been cleaned up a bit)
As for the crash, it is due to the unpacker in CoreAVC. The code we use to
deal with
it apparently doesn't work on OS-X

As a work around, go get a copy of VMUnpacker (I used version 1.2, but I assume
newer
ones will work), install it in Wine/Windows and unpack the CoreAVC.ax file with
it.
It will generate CoreAVCDecoder.ax_unpacked
Save a copy of your original, and copy CoreAVCDecoder.ax_unpacked to
/usr/lib/win32/CoreAVCDecoder.ax

It should work now.

Note that you still must have a valid serial number, this is just unpacking the
DLL
not cracking it.

I only tested with 1.7.0.
I am not comfortable in the Mac OSX environment yet, so I'm not sure whether
this is
fixable in mplayer or not yet.

Original comment by alannis...@gmail.com on 16 May 2008 at 1:41

The build problems should be fixed in latest svn. I don't know how to fix the
unpacker properly yet though.

I unpacked CoreAVC v1.7 with VMUnpack v1.2 and am using mplayer SVN and this
project's SVN from today in direct patch mode (not dshowserver) and when I try
to
play a video it seems to hang in DLL init with both processors showing 50%
utilization in OS X. Thoughts?

My system is also erroring out on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3, MacBook Pro Core

unpacked the CoreAVC 1.7 ax with VMunpacker 1.3. So here's the log:

Would be great to get this working, because my system is otherwise too slow for
1080p
H.264.

I'm closing this 2 year old ticket, as the issues reported here shouldn't be
occur
with the Wine builds.
Please open a new ticket if you still have issues
