Fix obsoletion warning Lots of code cleanup/linting

• removing usage of __ 'idiom'
• remove redundant async { } wrapping
• whitespace/long lines consistency

Hm, this builds with 6.0.202 in the global.json but is choking with .201 when I shave off the last commit, so I guess we keep that?
