Better support for non-unix platforms.

Something I'm working on improving in a different project which isn't yet public is essentially windows support.

The two key problems with this idea came up with this idea in the other project.

• The path separator varies between systems It is available as a rune which changes based on the OS os.PathSeparator
• Sending commands to the shell must be done in one of two ways.
  • one is for unix
  • one is for windows.

There's no reason this can't be done here, though unless somebody helps out this will be the extent of support for alternative platforms.
