Checked with our AAD team and for OAuth2, only modern auth is allowed. Not sure if this helps, but it sounds like instead of providing a UN/PW it should use the Microsoft sign in pages and just store the token. Then a process to likely keep refreshing the token.
Error: AADSTS50126: Invalid username or password
I've seen this posted on other issues but closed due to "workaround" or "inactive."
The workaround of creating an account on AAD does not work. We use AAD Connect/ADFS to sync to Azure and restrict creating AAD only accounts.
