All npcs disapeared after server update #169

Hello, our server had over 150 npcs and they were all there even after the server crashed. However after we upgraded from 1.1 to 1.2.3 they are all gone. The server owner says that their profiles are still there. We tried restarting the server, and reloading them. Is there a way to reclaim all the npcs? if not will we have to remake them every time the server updates?
