This will aid in analyzing how much each volume contributes to the total capacity. It can be used to aid in decisions:

Which capacity drives to purchase
Which drives to decommission (due to lack of free drive bays when adding new drive, poor TB/watt cost of old drive etc.)

I did a crud POC in spreadsheet to solve my need (it also illustrates the need here):

The last column's formula was =REPT("x",B2*2)
