In the commit 7c6e7914, Volumes 4.1 and 4.2 material was added by Thomas.

@funderburkjim is making some simple revisions in the next commit.

The addtional 4.1/4.2 material can be broadly considered as one of two types: additional verses and additional 'footnotes' and 'improvements/addenda'

Structure of digitization of volumes 1-3

The sayings from volumes 1-3 are numbered from 1 to 7613. Each of these has

There are also a handful of <H> sections; but these are not currently used.

volume 4.1 and 4.2 footnotes for volumes 1-3

There are additional comments in volumes 4.1/2 pertaining to specific verses appearing in volumes 1-3. The digitization has placed such a comment in the corresponding group for the verse.
For example, verse 7 has two footnotes -- one appearing in Volume 1 and marked <F> and one appearing in volume 4.1 and marked <F4.1>

<F>7) MBH. 3, 1217.·

<F4.1>-- 7 , <i>b</i>, <gr>a.</gr> {#haTha#} bedeutet hier «absolute Nothwendigkeit».·

Verse 11 has footnotes from volume1, volume 4.1 and volume 4.2, whose digitizations are:

`<F>11) KAVITA1MR2TAK. 37. ²d. {#tyAjyo#}·
unsere Aenderung für {#tyajyo#}.·

<F4.2>-- 11 . PRASAN3GARATNA1VALI1.·

<F4.1>-- 11 , <i>a</i>, <gr>b.</gr> Besser {#pariSevitam#}.·

There are 294 F4.1 instances, and 439 F4.2 instances at current count.

additional verses

The sayings from volumes 1-3 are numbered from 1 to 7613.

There are 252 additional sayings from 4.2 (part B), numbered from 7614 to 7865. Each of these has a verse <S>, an empty translation block (Boehtlingk has provided no translation, but we have added an empty translation block so that that the additional sayings have the same form as others. And each additional verse also has a footnote (usually indicating the source), and marked <F>. There are no <F4.1> or <F4.2> footnotes for these additional verses.

<h3>

Additional material is appended (in the digitization) to the Footnote for 13 verses. These are inserted 'between' verses by Boehtlingk, but have been added with a preceding <h3> marking in the current digitization. The first is at saying 7668:

<S><lg><l>amitaguNo 'pi padArtho doSeNaikena nindito bhavati |</l>·

Irregular 'footnotes' for volume 3 verses

Currently, at the top of boesp.all_ansi.txt there are 9 footnotes pertaining to volume 3 verses. The form of these is different: instead of a verse number, the reference is via a page-line.

suggestion for the F4.1C

Based on that first example, I suggest the first F4.1C be relabeled as F4.1 and moved to a footnote for saying 7224:

<HS>{#sthAnabhraSTAH su zobhante#} s.·
den folgenden Spruch.·

<S> sthAnamutsRjya gacchanti siMhAH satpuruSA gajAH |·
tatraiva nidhanaM yAnti kAkAH kApuruSA mRgAH ||·

SCHL. I, 95. JOHNS.·
104. SUBHA1S2. ²a. {#sthAnaMbhraSTAH na·
(su?) zobhante#} SUBHA1S2. ²b.·
{#satpuruSAH#} ²d. {#kApuruSAH#}. Vgl.·
Spr. 2638. 3929. 7118.·

<F4.1>-- S. 539, Z. 4. Lies «vorangehenden» st. «folgenden».·

And similarly for the other F4.1C @thomasincambodia What do you think of the suggestion?

funderburkjim commented 2 years ago

If you agree with the suggestion of F4.1C, I'll move the F4.1C s. It will be easier for me to do this, since I am making several other corrections related to extraction of <S> <HS> for proofreading.

agreed. go ahead.

funderburkjim commented 2 years ago

The above link shows the diff for changes related to the F4.1C items.

Here are some notes also pertaining to the changes. The last 2 are particularly hard to know how to handle, since the error being corrected is the verse number itself.

<F4.1C>-- S. 539, Z. 4. Lies «vorangehenden» st. «folgenden».·
 D7224
<F4.1C>-- S. 633, Spr. 2152. Lies drei Mal BAHUD. st. NI1TIS4.·

<F4.1C>-- S. 643, Spr. 4116. Füge «GALAN. Varr. 170» hinzu.·

These 2 are the most obscure. They are corrections to V3's
<F4.1C>-- S. 624, Z. 9 v. u. Lies 777 st. 776.·
The correction labeled as verse '776' should be labeled '777'

In this one, <V3>776 had NOT been typed in digitization. I typed it
but relabeled as <V3>777 and put it under D777.

<F4.1C>-- S. 639, Z. 2. Lies 3187 st. 3189 und streiche in Folge dessen {%c. d.%} u. s. w.·
The correction labeled as verse '3189' should be labeled '3187'
D1387 NOTE: Moved <V3>3189. to <V2>3187, and placed this F4.1 after.
