BTW, can you somehow force to use this git instead of the git version delivered 
by Xcode? Any advices?

Wow, xcode is shipping git now... about time!  And it's the default for new 
projects.  Mercurial folk must be sad.

It's possible to do... you would just need to modify your PATH environment 
variable so /usr/local/git/bin/git will come before xcode's git.
