Is the UK version Iphone can be used directly in UK? #32

I got a UK iphone.
It's 1.1.2 version with 4.02.13_G moderm firmware.

I got on line info that right now is impossible to unlock it.

Anybody know how to unlock it?

by the way. if I downgrade to 1.02 and it can go online and download 
anything.
but the basedband is still 4.02.13_G.
Can it be use in UK any sim card?
