Not displaying properly on all CRT Monitors #14

I have a few CRT's in my room and tested the new TMNT core and noticed it was outputting an odd signal that caused some CRT's to display darker then others.

You can see in this picture that the far left monitor, a Sony 9L3 works fine, but the JVC TM1950 is darker then it should be and the Sony 20L5 is very dark, almost black (with a slight bright part at the top). Note these monitors work perfectly fine with 100% of the other Mister cores and all consoles IMG_2936

Here is another close up of the 20L5, can see that slight bright part at the top. I did find if I adjust the CLP P DLY setting on the 20L5 I could get the image to display normally, but this will cause issues with other sources. Also the JVC doesn't have this option. IMG_2937

Hopefully this can be fixed relatively easily as it will be great to be able to enjoy this core on CRT's in all its glory!!!!! Thanks again for all the hard work on this core btw! Its coming along great!!!

Thanks for the detailed report and the pictures. It looks like the core might be sending blue instead of pure black during the vertical blanking, making some CRTs compensate the wrong reference by decreasing the blue level.

Displays fine on my consumer grade crt tv via rgb scart. But it does need some options to adjust the centering. :)

A similar issue was observed in the PSX core awhile ago when YPbPr output was used via the Analog IO board. --> https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/PSX_MiSTer/issues/95 - the issue was never resolved.

@kurohouou are you using a VGA to YPbPr cable on the one the Sony 2OL5?

kurohouou commented 1 year ago

@birdybro i tested it both with a HDMI -> HDFury -> RGB/VGA and Analog I/O -> RGB/VGA. Didn’t do anything with YPbPr.

Thanks, was mostly curious as it reminded me of the same mystery.

Hi, I'm having this issue as well on my Sony Trinitron RGB modded CRT. 20230519_212019 20230519_212002
