You can already swipe the backspace key to delete multiple characters, is that what you're referring to?
Thanks, I didn't know about that, it's close to what I would like but not there yet... I'm referring to a Swype in the whole keyboard area that deletes (like backspace) a whole word. Currently, the swipe that you've mentioned, as far as I've seen, deletes a bunch of characters according to how far you swipe back, but it's a bit limited in the number of characters you can delete with one swipe and top of that it's localised to the small backspace key.
I hope I've explained myself well enough, it might be a function that only I use.
I've added a couple of screenshots to explain these functions in the SwiftKey settings
Yeah, as shown, the SK feature disables swipe typing, and replaces it with swipe gestures where any left swipe on the keyboard deletes the current word. I used it on tablet where the bigger screen makes swipe typing less useful.
GBoard does it that way, If you swipe left on backspace, it selects entiere words at a time

Thank you for pointing that out! That is cool. Im also coming from SwiftKey and i still have to getting used to typing on the new keyboard. I didn't know that feature exist and sometimes i got really upset when i misspell because i have to delete char by char 😅
I think having both features would be awesome. I don't use swipe typing, so swiping anywhere on the keyboard from right to left to delete full words would be nice. And for deleting the last part of a word or bigger sections, the other method could be used.
On another note, if you keep holding backspace on the keyboard, it would be nice if at some point it would switch from deleting char by char to deleting whole words.
it would be nice to see swipe to delete getting an option to choose whether to swipe to delete letter by letter or word by word. also faster swipes back should delete more while slower ones have more fine control.
+1 on this features, I'd love to use it too. Is there anyone from the devs that can give some rough pointers on how to implement this and what gotchas to watch for in the codebase? If so, I wouldn't mind attempting to implement this myself.
Hello, I'm coming from SwiftKey (wich I consider the best keyboard ever), bit I don't like the fact that it's Microsoft, for privacy reasons. One of the main missing function of futo keyboard is the swipe to delete, would it be possible to implement that function as optional? I'm referring to the swipe in the keyboard area to delete backwars a whole word. I use this gesture all the time in Swiftkey. Thanks.
