Just received update 0.1.23 via the manual update button and it appears that the emoji selection is no longer visible. See screenshot.

Does this occur in every text field, or is it visible in some?

Can you share a screenshot of 3-dots > Edit Pinned, is emoji set to action key there?

snaarb commented 3 months ago

I believe it happens in every text field.

Why your keyboard looks different than mine? Screenshot_20240723-101443

@abb128 Emoji was already added as action button, and visible in the "options (3-dot menu)". I had the same issue. The Emoji button was not visible as a action key agter updating to 0.1.23 (play). It worked just fine yesterday, before 0.1/23.

Hot-fix: I moved Emoji to "Pinned", and checked that it was visible as Pinned, by closing and opening the keyboard. It was.

Hereafter, I moved it back as "Action", and... Look at that. The Emoji button became visible again 👍.

Moved it back as "Action",

Somehow I cannot even do that, it won't allow me to put anything there..

Indeed the emoji key is missing, and speaking on behalf of some of my people, it's an important key.. :)

abb128 commented 3 months ago

Ok, this is a bug. You can manually fix it by opening the Edit Pinned menu and closing it without even dragging anything.

@The-Quantum-Alpha You should be able to put it there. The drag and drop can be a little buggy sometimes, it may take a bit of dragging in the gap to convince it

Also side note, you can long-press the enter key to access emoji menu as well

I have this same issue. The hotfix to move it from action key and back did not work. I was unable to move it back under Action keys. However I am able to use emoji's if I place it under Pinned Actions. It will then display next to the microphone icon for dictations.

The-Quantum-Alpha commented 3 months ago

I have tried all the things you mentioned above, and what did it was to add the actions button by sliding it to the right on the gap..

can long-press the enter key to access emoji menu as well

Indeed, I don't use emojis that much, but some close ones do.. and they prefer quick access.

Thank you for the response.

Should be fixed in 0.1.23.1 which is available as a manual standalone update, and will be rolled out over Google Play and other platforms soon

Just want to say I'm blown away by the quick response to the issue, I created my github account to report this bug and didn't expect such an immediate fix! Feeling very happy about open source software today. Thank you all 😊
