Add Japanese Romaji-Based Input #22

Language

Japanese

Description

QWERTY

Complexity

Yes, Japanese Romaji-based input requires complex Romaji logic. In order to achieve that, you can use open libraries like Google's MOZC or ANTHY or similar open libraries. Hopefully in the future you can add flick based keyboards to the Japanese layout, but for now a QWERTY keyboard will do just fine, so please add Japanese

Duplicate of futo-org/futo-keyboard-layouts#57?

Not really...? This one is just a practical and pragmatic suggestion. As in, let's just focus on a QWERTY layout, rather than flick or kana, because we just need something now to start typing Japanese. After that we can think of all the fancy ease-of-life features that can be added later. For now let's just focus on the bare-bones basics to get this started.

futo-org/futo-keyboard-layouts#57 also mentions the QWERTY layout in addition to 12-Key as well as the potential ease of implementing QWERTY first over 12-key, if there is any.

This post is indeed a duplicate.
