Search is confusing when on content creator channel #242

Happens when your on a user channel unless this is intentional for searching specific user content and not in general (If this is intentional then not a bug...).

steps to reproduce 1.tap on channel/profile 2.search whatever content you'd like you would on home 3.videos not showing?

I am asking if it's intentional since it has the search history from if you searched on general search

On the odysee plugin from searching on a creator, why is it showing any result on a bogus search? And not "not found videos relating to search" I searched something like a different channel name "totally unrelated to Mental Outlaw" and it brought up a bunch of results from the creator (totally random results to fill in the bogus search) on search ? And yes, it's happening on the youtube plugin @koen-futo

To clarify what I am doing here, I am on a creator's channel searching a different creator name, it's not showing anything. My question is when you search from this creator tab is it only meant to bring up results from the creator or is it supposed to act like the general search bringing up results for whatever related you searched for? When you are on the YouTube App this acts as general search and not only from the creator, so was wondering what approach you had in mind for the function on the creator search.

Searching from a creator's channel will search that creator's content. If you want to search any video (not from that creator) you should search from home/subscriptions. So technically a feature, not a bug.

Similar behavior exists for the "Creators" tab, which will search specifically for creators, not content if you search from there.

We're aware this is not entirely clear and we intend to improve that. Most likely we'll end up making creator content search a tab or something, but this isn't set in stone yet.
