I'm hesitant about adding this term. fine to add terms that are already in Darwin Core, but for terms outside of Darwin Core, i think we need a really strong argument to add new data properties....
Can we not add a urn:? I think quarry will be common in paleo data and does mean something very different than the other geological terms.
Yes, we could ref: using a urn if there is not community standard term, i just want to be conservative about the number of terms we have...

I just took a look at Ray's data. Scrolling through the things in this column, it's unclear to me what is actually being described by the values in eventRemarks. Are we sure this is different from a site name? Or is it roughly equivalent to provenience in archaeology - a human-imposed breakdown of a site in order to describe where certain specimens were found within it? I think it is worth asking Ray for clarification before we add things to the template based on these values.
A quarry is like a pit mine or open cave, not like a city. I suppose we can use siteName for now, but a quarry is a specific thing. I'll check with Ray too.
Archaeologists break sites (I guess equivalent to a "city" if you want to think of it that way) into different pieces like zones, quadrants, levels, etc. (the various terms used here are endless). A quarry could be another term like this used to describe a subset of excavation within a site, or it could be talking about an actual, pre-existing quarry/mine where fossils were found. I still think it could be equivalent to a site name or a provenience description depending on Ray's response. It is not on the same level as formation or bed, which are formal geological terms for describing lithostratigraphy.
My understanding of the use of “Quarry” in vertebrate paleontology is to represent a site that is highly productive and results in several days to months of continuous activity in a single place. I would consider it a subset of “site”.

quarry = locality
we need to create a new term for quarry as it is different from group, formation, member, and bed. Currently it's under "eventRemarks".
