Thanks for the hint! I'll include the pdp0 device to the list of devices
NetSentry
puts a nice name for. However, I don't know what to do about the WiFi device,
since
ethX devices are normally really ethernet devices..

... and die icons are not correct on the galaxy. "pdp0" (which is 3g) has the
wlan-icon, and "Ethernet" (wlan) has the "E"-Icon of 3G.

Thank you Stefan for your help!
Unfortunately I'm quite busy at the moment and I don't really have a lot of
time to
work on NetSentry. But as it seems the Galaxy device owners in my user base
increase,
so I can't wait with a fix for much longer, I guess ;-)

i propose to add some configurable mappings:
i.e. Samsung Galaxy/i5700 or maybe even all samsungs: eth0 - WiFi, pdp0 2G/3G
HTC/Motorola: eth0 - 2G/3G, e.t.c
custom: let the user assign interfaces to the interface types

Yeah, I was thinking of letting the users choose these things too. However, I
don't
know if all the non-tech users will be comfortable dealing with these things.
If
anybody knows where I could "read out" the proper device alias for a given
interface
name, I'd be happy if you let me know ;-)

NetSentry on my Galaxy tab shows the 2G/3G network as svnet0. I have pdp0 as
well, but I think that only appeared when I enabled tethering. (I also have
entries for Wi-Fi Tethering and Ethernet).

On my Galaxy S I have 3 interfaces showing . Ethernet, svnet0 and pdp0 . I
presume the ethernet entry is for wifi . A bit confused about the other two as
the only only other connection I have used is 3G .

I'm also confused about the interface svnet0. Interestingly netsentry reports
traffic (in both directions) on this interface event when no SIM card is in the
device.
Therefore I do not believe that svnet0 has somthing todo with 2G/3G connections.
Does anyone else have a more educated guess about this interface?

svnet0 is also switched in upload and download directions. MAybe it is
something like an internal interfaces through which all traffic is routed. But
just a gues.

in my Galaxy S2 i9100 snet means HDSPA or 3G pdp means traffic with pc/laptop
and ethernet means W Lan traffic. A bit confusing is that svnet0 and pdp0
showing a question mark beside the W Lan icon

Also own a SGS", but pdp0 is definetly not "only" laptop/pc tehtering (didn't
test tehtering). It is definetly also the normal 3G and HDSPA traffic.

could it be that one is for GPRS and one for 3G networks? I see little traffic
on both, which would make sense wince 3G coverage here is spotty (especially
when driving).

By the way, I get this on a Galaxy S2, so it's not limited to the original
Galaxy S. If you need help testing then let me know.

Galaxy Ace - I get pdp0 and wln0, both with generic icons. See attached
screenshot. Otherwise - GREAT app!
