Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. LED is no longer blinking when I receive a new txt-every time I receive a
text

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I assigned different color LEDs to specific contacts; no blinking light when
receiving text from them. Not sure if the LED will blink when receiving txts
from Default contacts; I havent received any msgs from any of them yet.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Droid 3 - just ran update yesterday (4/16) and ever since I updated it, this
has been happening.

Please provide any additional information below.
Also having same problem others mentioned of the text box that pops up being
gigantic.

Can you try this? SMS Popup settings -> Additional Settings -> uncheck "Screen
on for Popup".

Now wait for a new SMS to come in and see if the LED works. What i've noticed
is most devices only show the LED when the screen stays off.

the ICS update for SMS Popup is so awesome i donated a second time...

i can confirm that unchecking the "Screen on for Popup" option does allow the
LED to light up on my Galaxy Nexus with stock 4.0.2.

it would really be nice, however, to not have to disable the screen on feature
and still have the LED illuminate _after_ the screen turns back off (in case i
can't check the popup notification right away). otherwise i have no way of
knowing i missed a notification without manually turning the screen on to check.

i think it's worth noting that Handcent and Chomp SMS both offer this option
(works on my Bionic and Galaxy Nexus) - if i enable the "screen on for popup"
option but don't close out the popup for any reason (i.e., away from phone),
the LED will illuminate after the screens automatically turns off. so it is
possible to control this via software...doesn't mean it's easy though :-)

yes I completely agree it would be nice (i myself also want this to work), the
thing is, its really up to the system as to when to show the LED (my app just
says "show LED" and the system decides how it works). there are a few hacky
workarounds that might fix this and i will investigate further to see if they
work ok.

LED doesn't work on 4.1.1, used to work fine on 4.0.1.

Not showing led notification with popup enabled. Would like to see SMS and
still have the led notification working as well. Using gnex on 4.1.2. Thanks

Yeah, same here - Motorola Razr XT910 with Android 4.2.2. The notification
wakes up the screen, the led blinks, but as soon the phone locks itself again,
the led stops blinking.

Same problem on my Sony Xperia Mini Pro (Stock ICS 4.04). I disabled
notifications in the stock SMS app and enabled them in SMS Popup. SMS Popup
plays the assigned sound, but the LED doesn't light up (screen is not set to
wake up).
Would be great if this could be fixed :-)

I began having the same issue after I updated to 4.3 and switch to Nova
Launcher. The LED worked perfectly with 4.2.2 and Apex Launcher. My setting for
"Screen on for PopUP" is OFF.

Other than that this is a really excellent add-on to the android messaging app.
thanks so much Adam.
