Does this work correctly if you turn off secure boot?
I assume you wanted to say on ? Because as I said, it is already disabled. Just in case I tried again with secure boot on, it is the same result than when it's off
Hello, to give an update to this (lol) I just update my firmware with an USB stick (as explained here). It worked well and fwupmgr
detect that my system is now up to date.
fwupmgr
didn't work though, so I let this issue open for now.
@Vallas873 I am seeing the same issue here on an OptiPlex 7040 USFF. It is stuck on 1.9.2 and I can't seem to get any tool to upgrade it including fwupmgr
, the USB boot method as well as the Flash BIOS Boot Menu.
They show all the correct BIOS update information (USB boot showing the most including ME version) but they all just reboot back into the same 1.9.2 BIOS version and I have never seen the "flashing..." screen I've seen researching this issue.
Ideas?
I have discovered that my OptiPlex 7040 has the Intel Management Engine (ME) disabled from Dell as per the original configuration (I'm not the 1st owner). This explains why I see no AMT/ME options in the BIOS and likely why the BIOS update never starts.
Describe the bug When I try to install the latest firmware update (1.21.0 -> 1.22.0) it doesn't work, it reboot without installing. I've seen this (because when I run
fwupdmgr get-updates
it returns that is a known issue, with this link), but I don't have any"Boot Order Lock" option and secure boot is already disabled. I change the boot sequence to put "Linux Firmware Updater" before "debian", precisely when I reboot I have :Steps to Reproduce
fwupdmgr refresh --force
fwupdmgr get-updates
fwupdmgr update
After putting "Linux Firmware Updater" on top of boot sequence, and repeat the same operations, same results with 3 reboots, as described above.
Expected behavior I expected the normal installation process of a new firmware, with the Dell logo and a progress bar after the reboot
