Describe the bug Explorer Crash - System Tray (Notification Area) Icon Does NOT Come Backup

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open Task Manager and Kill Explorer.exe
  2. In Task Manager run explorer.exe

Expected behavior Expect if explorer.exe crashes that the fxsound System Tray (Notification Area) Icon would return when explorer.exe recovers.

System information

Additional context Fix is at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/shell/taskbar?redirectedfrom=MSDN, see section "Taskbar Creation Notification" , need to listen for the TaskbarCreated event.

I came here for the exact same issue. Even if I re-open FxSound from the Start Menu, the notification icon never reappears. Same OS version as the OP.

Restart proocess FxSound.exe from Task Manager.
