finch looks strange #519

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.SSH to Linux-Server
2. run finch or screen finch

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
see screenshot, lines should be like in http://bit.ly/qRmwXb .

That seems to affect all applications using gnt (e.g. mc is affected too).

What version of the product are you using (you can see this by using Menu
-> About in the Host List)?
Irssi connectBot 1.7.1

What type of system are you trying to connect to?
Linux Debian 6

If you are able to connect, what is the output of "echo $TERM", "uname -a",
and any other relevant information on the host?
echo $TERM => xterm
echo $TERM in screen => screen
uname -a => Linux hostname 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Mon Oct 3 04:15:24 UTC 2011 i686 
GNU/Linux

Yes, the icon shows that I'm using an older version. I just upgraded and 
checked the issue again. ;)

no CyanogenMod

This is a custom ROM but as far as I know it's a plain Froyo image.
