Please expand on "data pin is expected to be inverted" and please verify that GPIO 9 is default data pin. #2

I'd like to use your code for a sail boat instrument project but can't seem to make it work. I have 5.v and Ground connected, omit DTR and have DATA attached to GPIO 9 (MISO). My thanks for any advice you can provide.
