I assume there will be at least 1 more date variable: file creation date - for 
sorting purposes while using f.e. i18n_search. Having 3 date variables, would 
become handy for plugin developers, for publishing pages in future. Last edit 
could also show who edited the page last time.
This way we could get:
- creation date
- published date
- last edit date + username

Yes this would be especially necessary for drafts and backups as well. Since 
modification and publication are 2 separate things.
