An idea: GACS started as a concept scheme at the intersection of three thesauri, and alot of the stock presentations about GACS include a Venn diagram showing NALT, AGROVOC, and CABT as intersecting circles, with a small circle in the middle. See Slide 15 (circa) in [1].
I'm thinking that this diagram, minus labels of course, could be stylized and turned into a rather nice logo.

This is roughly what I am picturing: gacs_logo.pdf
Of course, there's no limit to how the circles could be arranged, and other shapes, such as ovals, could be used.
I like it. What if we use the main colours of the contibuting institutions to lightly fill the discs? @ruthiemusker we chatted about this before...
Hi Both, this is the first time I've used this github feature so apologies if something unexpected happens. I had a chat with Sarah around the logo before the paper came back and we got distracted. I showed her the logo with the circles and then logos for CABI, AGROVOC, and NAL for inspiration. Unfortunately, the colors for the three aren't standout enough and aren't complementary. It may be good to have a logo that doesn't need to be in color for the point to get across. We also discussed that the circles imply that its a coming-together of the same thing when its really its the integration of different things that gives GACS its purpose. I've attached the logo that Sarah put together based on that spec. I'm not crazy about it as it stands, but its something completely different. I'd like to see how it looks if the letters were themselves the circles and were intertwined together.
@ruthiemusker, thanks for that. It's interesting. I'll need to stew on it a bit. At the very least, it's a good start. :)
@ruthiemusker +1 logo must not depend on color - both for accessibility reasons and because it needs to print out well
The proposal is not bad. I think it could be improved though I'm not sure how. Are we sure we need to include both the acronym and the full name? I guess we do, though it does limit what we can do.
Here's another option. The squiggle on the left, clumsily hand-drawn in Powerpoint with the mouse, is supposed to be a "G"...
I still like GAC_ or GAC%20 :)
more ideas...
yeah! I like the second one.
I prefer:
Yeah, I like the smaller font for sure.
perhaps @ruthiemusker can liaise with Sarah to get some ideas?
