So in all cases, we want a button. It'll have ???. For sight, it'll reveal the word and play the sound. For sound, it'll just play the sound. If the sound fails, it'll reveal the word as a fallback.
So it'll always be a button with ???. The student will always have to press the button to see the word and (provided the audio is working) always see and hear the sound at the same time.
I think this'll really help with association at a more subconscious level.
