J3016 is the SAE levels

So on this one, I think the best move we can make is to adopt the level 2 and lower definitions as "Driver Assistance", level 3 as "Semi-Autonomous", and level 4 or higher as "Autonomous" and use their language verbatim.

Suggestion for level 2 and below: "Driver Directed Vehicle"

The actual updates should probably go to an agency. Definitionally, everything else is mostly already handled.
